Patch - March 28 2025


This patch introduces big improvements to melee combat, featuring a fresh attack system with combo moves and powerful charged strikes. The animations you'll see are early experimental versions of this new system—we'll be refining these significantly in the coming weeks, but we already think they're a lot more fun!

We've also made notable enhancements to game performance, leading to smoother gameplay and significantly quicker load times.

Jump in and start swinging!

Player

  • Shield depletion gives a brief slow motion effect and slight zoom out, and pushes nearby enemies back
  • Position adjustment for player's ammo ring whenever the player has a shield active
  • Weapon no longer lags behind to mimic arm stretch/squash
  • Fixed Hyper Ammo bonus crit chance getting stuck after changing levels with the status effect active
  • Default gamepad dash input changed to right shoulder button
  • Default gamepad reload input changed to right face button

Level

  • Temporarily disabled bonus objectives

Weapons

  • Reload enable property implemented
  • Recharger pistol reload disabled
  • Recharger pistol ammo increased
  • Recharger pistol damage increased
  • Recharger pistol ammo regen rate increased
  • Melee attacks destroy enemy projectiles
  • Weapons show a swap icon if picking them up will cause the player to drop their current weapon
  • Common, heavy, and special enemy weapon pickups expire after 5s offscreen
  • When swapping to a new weapon a new attack input is required before being able to attack
  • Fixed being able to buy and equip weapon level rewards
  • Changed weapon level reward text from "UPGRADE" to "TAKE"
  • Weapon inventory from when the player left the based is restored on going back to the base
  • Disabled ammo system for all melee weapons
  • Melee weapon attack animation system replaced
  • Melee weapon charged attack implemented, dealing x2 base damage (as an initial default for all melee weapons)
  • Melee weapon combo attacks implemented, dealing x1.5 base damage on the second hit (as an initial default for all melee weapons)
  • Fist base damage reduced to 5
  • Fixed attachments not clearing from starting weapons when returning to base

Suits

  • Fire Starter doesn't draw the ammo ring whilst flame thrower ability is active
  • Fire Starter flame thrower reload disabled

Enemies

  • Common, heavy, and special enemies don't drop weapons if they die offscreen
  • Training Dummy doesn't scale up HP

Attachments

  • Attachments can now be applied to melee weapons
  • Changed cluster attachment description text from "backwards" to "forwards"
  • Fixed drawing issue with attachment pickup info text

Perks

  • Perk Added: Shield Shatter - Shield breaks shoot out a burst of projectiles
  • Perk Added: Whiplash - Melee attacks deflect enemy bullets
  • Perk Added: Reaper's Edge - Melee kills restore 1 HP
  • Perk Added: Executioner’s Instinct - Melee damage increases by 50% against enemies below 30% health
  • Perk trigger implemented for when the player kills an enemy
  • Melee weapon perk triggers implemented
  • Gun perk triggers implemented

Characters

  • Fixed HP regen/decay issues

Menus

  • Temporarily disabled the post game report access

UI

  • HUD - Golden Floppy Disk inventory shown in base
  • HUD -Scrap inventory shown in base
  • HUD - Battery inventory shown in base
  • HUD - Health moved to top left
  • HUD - Cash icon displayed

Other

  • Interaction system update to allow for more user specific interactions across different states (idle/hover/down/active)
  • App Loading separated into stages to optimise launching
  • Reduced possible player teams from 4 to 2
  • Complete overhaul and optimisation of stats system (resulting in significantly improved load times and performance)

Dev

  • Re-enabled Perks debug overlay view
